Solute Carrier Family 6, Member 14 (SLC6A14)

ATB(0+); Sodium And Chloride Dependent Neutral And Basic Amino Acid Transporter B(0+); Amino acid transporter ATB0+

Solute Carrier Family 6, Member 14 (SLC6A14)
SLC6A14 is a member of the Na(+)- and Cl(-)-dependent neurotransmitter transporter family and transports both neutral and cationic amino acids in an Na(+)- and Cl(-)-dependent manner. There are 7 putative glycosylation sites on the second extracellular loop and 1 glycosylation site on the third extracellular loop. ATB(0+) has 2 consensus sites for protein kinase C phosphorylation. ATB(0+) shares about 60% amino acid similarity with the glycine transporters GLYT1 and GLYT2. Northern blot analysis of several tissues detected a prominent 4.5-kb transcript and a minor 2.0-kb transcript only in lung. RNA dot blot analysis detected highest expression in lung, fetal lung, trachea, and salivary gland, lower expression in mammary gland, stomach, and pituitary gland, and very low expression in colon, uterus, prostate, and testis.
