Solute Carrier Organic Anion Transporter Family, Member 3A1 (SLCO3A1)

OATP-D; OATPD; OATP3A1; SLC21A11; Solute Carrier family 21 Member 11; Sodium-independent organic anion transporter D; Organic Anion Transporting Polypeptide D

Solute Carrier Organic Anion Transporter Family, Member 3A1 (SLCO3A1)
OATP3A1-V1 and -V2 differ in the splicing of exon 10 and encode deduced proteins of 710 and 692 amino acids, respectively, that are identical over the first 666 amino acids. Real-time PCR detected widespread expression of OATP3A1-V1 and generally lower expression of OATP3A1-V2, with predominant OATP3A1-V2 expression in testis and brain. Immunohistochemical analysis detected OATP3A1-V1 in testicular germ cells, the basolateral plasma membrane of choroid plexus epithelial cells, and neuroglial cells of human frontal cortex gray matter. OATP3A1-V2 immunolocalized to Sertoli cells in testis, apical and/or subapical membranes in choroid plexus epithelial cells, and in all cell bodies and axons of neurons of frontal cortex gray and white matter.
