Solute Carrier Organic Anion Transporter Family, Member 5A1 (SLCO5A1)
Organic anion transporters, such as SLCO5A1, are 12-pass transmembrane proteins that transport a wide spectrum of amphipathic organic solutes apparently via an anion exchange mechanism.Isidor et al. (2010) performed expression analysis of SLCO5A1 using total RNA extracted from various human tissues, and found that SLCO5A1 was highly expressed in fetal and adult brain and heart.
By genomic sequence analysis, Hagenbuch and Meier (2003) mapped the SLCO5A1 gene to chromosome 8. Hartz (2010) mapped the SLCO5A1 gene to chromosome 8q13.3 based on an alignment of the SLCO5A1 sequence with the genomic sequence (GRCh37).
