Sorting Nexin 2 (SNX2)

TRG-9; Transformation-related gene 9 protein

Sorting Nexin 2 (SNX2)
Sorting nexin-2 is member of the sorting nexin family. Members of this family contain a phox (PX) domain, which is a phosphoinositide binding domain, and are involved in intracellular trafficking. This protein associates with formin-binding protein 17, but its function is unknown. This protein may form oligomeric complexes with family members.
The SNX2 cDNA encodes a deduced 519-amino acid protein that shares 63% sequence identity with SNX1. Northern blot analysis detected SNX2 transcripts of approximately 3.1 and 2.4 kb in all tissues tested, with highest expression in spleen, heart, skeletal muscle, and peripheral leukocytes, and low expression in kidney, liver, and brain.
