Serine/Arginine Rich Splicing Factor 11 (SRSF11)

NET2; p54; SFRS11; Arginine-rich 54 kDa nuclear protein; Splicing factor, arginine/serine-rich 11

Serine/Arginine Rich Splicing Factor 11 (SRSF11)
SFRS11 encodes 54-kD nuclear protein that contains an arginine/serine-rich region similar to segments found in pre-mRNA splicing factors. Although the function of this protein is not yet known, structure and immunolocalization data suggest that it may play a role in pre-mRNA processing.
The gene, termed p54 by them, encodes a 484-amino acid polypeptide. Because the clone contained an arginine/serine-rich region similar to that found in splicing factors, the authors hypothesized that p54 may function in pre-mRNA splicing. Indirect immunofluorescence showed that p54 is distributed throughout the nucleus in a speckled pattern, coincident with several known splicing factors.
