Src Homology 2 Domain Containing Protein E (SHE)
Using a fragment of human ABL1 as bait in a yeast 2-hybrid screen of an embryonic mouse cDNA library, Oda et al. (1997) cloned a partial She cDNA. Northern blot analysis detected She expression in mouse heart, lung, brain, and skeletal muscle, but not in spleen, liver, kidney, or testis.Oda et al. (1997) found that mouse She could interact with both kinase-active and kinase-defective human ABL1.
The ABL1 protooncogene encodes a cytoplasmic and nuclear protein tyrosine kinase that has been implicated in processes of cell differentiation, cell division, cell adhesion, and stress response. Alterations of ABL1 by chromosomal rearrangement or viral transduction lead to malignant transformation, as in chronic myeloid leukemia (CML).
