T Complex Protein 10 Like Protein (TCP10L)

Based on a differentially displayed cDNA fragment, which was downregulated in hepatoma tissues, Chen et al. (2003) cloned a novel cDNA, designated T-complex protein-10-like, from a human liver cDNA library. The deduced 215-amino acid TCP10L protein contains a 25-amino acid leucine zipper motif with a leucine residue in every seventh position. Northern blot analysis of 30 adult human tissues detected an approximately 1-kb transcript specifically in liver and testis. Transfection experiments demonstrated the subcellular localization of TCP10L in nuclei.

TCP10L significantly inhibits the expression of reporter genes. Experiments with mutation constructs suggested that the leucine zipper structure is critical for the regulatory function of TCP10L.TCP10L gene contains 5 exons and spans approximately 9 kb.
