T Complex Associated Testis Expressed Protein 1 (TCTE1)

Kwiatkowski et al. (1991) identified highly informative dinucleotide repeat polymorphisms in the TCTE1 locus, previously called D6S46. Linkage mapping positioned this marker midway between the centromere and HLA with recombination fractions as follows: D6Z1--0.21--TCTE1--0.24--HLA. Two-color fluorescence in situ hybridization placed TCTE1 proximal to D6S19, which in turn is proximal to D6S29 and HLA.

The TCTE3 gene is close to the TCP1 and TCP10 genes, which are also homologs of t-complex loci. In contrast, the TCTE1 gene and some others are on 6p, indicating a syntenic homology between the proximal and middle portions of the t-complex of mouse chromosome 17 and 6q and between the distal portion of the t-complex and 6p.
