TATA Box Binding Protein Associated Factor 1D (TAF1D)

JOSD3; TAF(I)41; TAFI41; Josephin Domain Containing 3; Transcription initiation factor SL1/TIF-IB subunit D; RNA polymerase I-specific TBP-associated factor 41 kDa

TATA Box Binding Protein Associated Factor 1D (TAF1D)
TAF1D is a member of the SL1 complex, which includes TBP and TAF1A, TAF1B, and TAF1C, and plays a role in RNA polymerase I transcription. The 278-amino acid protein contains a bipartite nuclear targeting motif and a number of putative phosphorylation sites.
GFP-tagged TAF1D colocalized to the nucleus with POLB. PCR and Western blot analysis detected TAF1D expression in ovarian tumors but not in normal ovarian tissues.TAF1D is 41-kD subunit of the SL1 complex and plays a role in RNA polymerase I transcription. Reduction of TAF1D by siRNA decreased RNA polymerase I transcription and reduced rRNA promoter occupancy of the SL1 complex and RNA polymerase I. TAF1D may act as a coactivator in UBF-activated transcription.
