THAP Domain Containing Protein 4 (THAP4)
By searching databases, Roussigne et al. (2003) identified several proteins containing an N-terminal THAP domain, including THAP4. The THAP domain of the deduced 577-amino acid THAP4 protein includes a C2CH signature, an AVPTIF box, and several other conserved amino acids.
Hartz (2009) mapped the THAP4 gene to chromosome 2q37.3 based on an alignment of the THAP4 sequence with the genomic sequence.
The THAP domain includes a C2CH signature, an AVPTIF box, and several other conserved amino acids. It appears to be restricted to animal proteins and shows similarity to a DNA-binding domain of Drosophila P element transposase.
