THAP Domain Containing Protein 5 (THAP5)

THAP Domain Containing Protein 5 (THAP5)
By searching databases, Roussigne et al. (2003) identified several proteins containing an N-terminal THAP domain, including THAP5. The THAP domain of the deduced 395-amino acid THAP5 protein includes a C2CH signature, an AVPTIF box, and several other conserved amino acids.
Hartz (2009) mapped the THAP5 gene to chromosome 7q31.1 based on an alignment of the THAP5 sequence with the genomic sequence.
The THAP domain includes a C2CH signature, an AVPTIF box, and several other conserved amino acids. It appears to be restricted to animal proteins and shows similarity to a DNA-binding domain of Drosophila P element transposase.
