THAP Domain Containing Protein 6 (THAP6)

THAP Domain Containing Protein 6 (THAP6)
By searching databases, Roussigne et al. (2003) identified several proteins containing an N-terminal THAP domain, including THAP6. The THAP domain of the deduced 222-amino acid THAP6 protein includes a C2CH signature, an AVPTIF box, and several other conserved amino acids. THAP6 also has a C-terminal coiled-coil domain.
Hartz (2009) mapped the THAP6 gene to chromosome 4q21.1 based on an alignment of the THAP6 sequence with the genomic sequence.
The THAP domain includes a C2CH signature, an AVPTIF box, and several other conserved amino acids. It appears to be restricted to animal proteins and shows similarity to a DNA-binding domain of Drosophila P element transposase.
