THAP Domain Containing, Apoptosis Associated Protein 2 (THAP2)
By searching databases, Roussigne et al. (2003) identified several proteins containing an N-terminal THAP domain, including THAP2. The THAP domain of the deduced 228-amino acid THAP2 protein includes a C2CH signature, an AVPTIF box, and several other conserved amino acids.
Bessiere et al. (2008) found that the zinc finger within the THAP domain of THAP2 had the same 3-dimensional fold as that of THAP1 , which includes a characteristic loop-helix-loop motif. However, THAP2 did not bind DNA containing a consensus THAP1-binding element. Hartz (2009) mapped the THAP2 gene to chromosome 12q21.1 based on an alignment of the THAP2 sequence with the genomic sequence (build 36.1).
