THAP Domain Containing, Apoptosis Associated Protein 3 (THAP3)

By searching databases, Roussigne et al. (2003) identified several proteins containing an N-terminal THAP domain, including THAP3. The THAP domain of the deduced 239-amino acid THAP3 protein includes a C2CH signature, an AVPTIF box, and several other conserved amino acids.

Bessiere et al. (2008) found that, although the THAP domains of THAP1 and THAP3 are similar, the zinc finger within the THAP domain of THAP3 did not bind DNA containing a consensus THAP1-binding element.Hartz (2009) mapped the THAP3 gene to chromosome 1p36.31 based on an alignment of the THAP3 sequence with the genomic sequence.
