Tensin 2 (TNS2)

TENC1; C1-TEN; C1TEN; TNS2; Tensin Like C1 Domain Containing Phosphatase; C1 domain-containing phosphatase and tensin homolog

Tensin 2 (TNS2)
Tensin 2belongs to the tensin family. Tensin is a focal adhesion molecule that binds to actin filaments and participates in signaling pathways. This protein plays a role in regulating cell migration. Alternative splicing occurs at this locus and three transcript variants encoding three distinct isoforms have been identified.
The N termini of both proteins contain an actin-binding domain and a PTEN homology region. The C termini contain SH2 domains and the phosphotyrosine-binding domain. Northern blot analysis revealed a 5.0-kb transcript expressed predominantly in heart, skeletal muscle, kidney, and liver. Expression in brain, colon, thymus, and peripheral blood leukocytes was extremely low.
