Transcription Elongation Factor A Like Protein 4 (TCEAL4)

Transcription elongation factor S-II protein-like 4

Transcription Elongation Factor A Like Protein 4 (TCEAL4)
TCEAL4 encodes a member of the transcription elongation factor A (SII)-like (TCEAL) gene family. Members of this family contain TFA domains and may function as nuclear phosphoproteins that modulate transcription in a promoter context-dependent manner. Multiple family members are located on the X chromosome. Alternative splicing occurs for this gene; however, the full-length nature of all transcript variants has not yet been described.
Anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) is one of the most aggressive human malignancies and appears to arise mainly from transformation of pre-existing differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC). However, the carcinogenic mechanism of anaplastic transformation remains unclear. The detailed function of TCEAL4 has not been described nor has any association between this gene and human cancers been reported previously.
