Translocase Of Inner Mitochondrial Membrane 13 (TIMM13)

Tim13; TIMM13B; Mitochondrial import inner membrane translocase subunit Tim13

Translocase Of Inner Mitochondrial Membrane 13 (TIMM13)
TIMM13 encodes a translocase with similarity to yeast mitochondrial proteins that are involved in the import of metabolite transporters from the cytoplasm and into the mitochondrial inner membrane. The encoded protein and the TIMM8a protein form a 70 kDa complex in the intermembrane space. This gene is in a head-to-tail orientation with the gene for lamin B2.
The human TIMM13 protein contains 95 amino acids.TIMM13 transcript in adult tissues, with highest expression in heart, liver, skeletal muscle, and kidney; a second transcript of 1.0 kb was detected in pancreas. The AGCs function in the aspartate-malate NADH shuttle that moves reducing equivalents from the cytosol to the mitochondrial matrix.
