Transmembrane Channel Like Protein 6 (TMC6)

TMC6 and its homolog TMC8, interact and form a complex with the zinc transporter 1 (SLC30A1) and localize mostly to the endoplasmic reticulum, but also to the nuclear membrane and Golgi apparatus.The EVER1 gene encodes 2 alternatively spliced proteins, one of 805 amino acids and the other of 454 amino acids, in the same open reading frame.

The EVER1 protein was predicted to contain 10 transmembrane domains and 2 leucine zipper motifs. EVER1 shares approximately 75% amino acid identity with a mouse homolog, and EVER1 and EVER2 share approximately 28% of their constituent amino acids. EVER1 and EVER2 are expressed in the cytoplasm and colocalize with calnexin, an integral membrane protein located in the endoplasmic reticulum.
