Tripartite Motif Containing Protein 38 (TRIM38)

TRIM38 is a member of the tripartite motif (TRIM) family. The TRIM motif includes three zinc-binding domains, a RING, a B-box type 1 and a B-box type 2, and a coiled-coil region. The function of this protein has not been identified.TRIM38 is expressed at high level, 3.2 times the average gene in this release. TRIM38 contains 15 different gt-ag introns. Transcription produces 13 different mRNAs, 12 alternatively spliced variants and 1 unspliced form. There are 4 probable alternative promotors, 3 non overlapping alternative last exons and 5 validated alternative polyadenylation sites. The mRNAs appear to differ by truncation of the 5' end, truncation of the 3' end, presence or absence of 3 cassette exons, overlapping exons with different boundaries, alternative splicing or retention of 6 introns.
