Tweety Homolog 2 (TTYH2)

Tweety Homolog 2 (TTYH2)
TTYH2 encodes a member of the tweety family of proteins. Members of this family function as chloride anion channels. The encoded protein functions as a calcium(2+)-activated large conductance chloride(-) channel, and may play a role in kidney tumorigenesis. Two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene.
The deduced 534-amino acid TTYH2 protein has a predicted molecular mass of 59.3 kD and contains 5 predicted transmembrane domains, 1 casein kinase II and 2 protein kinase C phosphorylation sites, 4 N-linked glycosylation sites, 5 N-myristoylation sites, and an RGD motif potentially capable of integrin binding. The TTYH2 protein shares 43% and 28% sequence identity with human TTYH1 and Drosophila tweety, respectively.
