U2 Small Nuclear RNA Auxiliary Factor 1 Like Protein 4 (U2AF1L4)

Hatada et al. (1991) isolated the imprinted mouse gene U2af1rs1 by restriction landmark genomic scanning.U2AF1L4 is related to the human ribonucleoprotein auxiliary factor required for RNA splicing. Kitagawa et al. (1995) isolated 3 human homologs of mouse U2af1rs1. One of these, U2AF1RS3, was mapped to 19p13.2 by fluorescence in situ hybridization. The authors had isolated no cDNA for this gene from a human brain library and suggested that the locus may represent a pseudogene. Kitagawa et al. (1995) presented DNA sequence analysis data which revealed higher similarity between the human U2AF1RS1 and U2AF1RS2 genes (94.6%) than that observed between the 2 mouse homologs (76.7%). the human locus they designated U2AF1RS3.
