UBX Domain Protein 8 (UBXN8)

Yamabe et al. (1997) used exon trapping, thermal asymmetric interlaced PCR, and screening of a human embryonic carcinoma cDNA library to identify a novel gene, which they termed REP8. The full-length cDNA predicted a polypeptide of 270 amino acids. Northern blot analysis revealed transcript sizes of 1.5 and 2.0 kb. The gene was expressed abundantly in human ovary and testis, and weakly in all other tissues tested.

Yamabe et al. (1997) determined that the REP8 gene consists of 8 exons spanning 20 kb.By fluorescence in situ hybridization, Yamabe et al. (1997) localized REP8 to chromosome 8p12-p11.2, near the PPP2CB gene.
