Ubiquitin Specific Peptidase 29 (USP29)

Ubiquitin thioesterase 29; Deubiquitinating enzyme 29; Ubiquitin carboxyl-terminal hydrolase 29

Ubiquitin Specific Peptidase 29 (USP29)
USP29 gene contains 4 exons, with the entire coding region located within exon 4.The deduced 922-amino acid human protein contains a cys box and a his box characteristic of type-2 ubiquitin C-terminal hydrolases.
USP29 shares 42.5% amino acid identity with the 869-amino acid mouse protein, with most similarity in the catalytic domain. Northern blot analysis detected variable expression of several transcripts in adult mouse tissues and in embryos after embryonic day 11, with highest expression in brain. In human tissues, a 9.0-kb USP29 transcript was detected in ovary, and 3.5- and 9.0-kb transcripts were detected in testis. No expression was found in adult brain or in any fetal tissues examined.
