V-Set And Immunoglobulin Domain Containing Protein 1 (VSIG1)
VSIG1 contains multiple glycosylation sites at the N-terminal region, and multiple phosphorylation sites and glutamic acid/proline (EP) repeats at the C-terminal region. The gene is expressed in normal stomach and testis, as well as in gastric, esophageal and ovarian cancers. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. The 387-amino acid protein contains an N-terminal V-type Ig-like domain, a C2-type Ig-like domain, and a transmembrane domain, which places VSIG1 in the junctional adhesion molecule (JAM) family. The N-terminal extracellular domain of VSIG1 contains 7 potential glycosylation sites, and the C-terminal intracellular domain contains 11 potential phosphorylation sites and a unique pattern of glutamic acid/proline (EP) repeats.
