WAS/WASL Interacting Protein Family, Member 3 (WIPF3)

CR16; Corticosteroids and regional expression protein 16 homolog

WAS/WASL Interacting Protein Family, Member 3 (WIPF3)
The deduced 454-amino acid protein shares 72% identity with rat Cr16. Western blot analysis of several mouse tissues detected high Cr16 expression in brain, with lower levels in lung and heart. Cr16 localized to the cytosolic fraction of mouse brain homogenates. Immunohistochemical analysis showed that Cr16 colocalized with N-Wasp (WASL) in cultured primary rat hippocampal neurons and at the tips of their growth cone filopodia.
Using in situ hybridization, Masters et al. (1996) found that Cr16 was highly expressed in rat hippocampal pyramidal neurons and granule cells of the dentate gyrus, as well as in major projection areas of the hippocampal formation. Immunocytochemical analysis confirmed expression of Cr16 in hippocampal pyramidal and granule neurons.
