WD Repeat Containing Domain Protein 17 (WDR17)

WD Repeat Containing Domain Protein 17 (WDR17)
The deduced 1,322-amino acid protein has a calculated molecular mass of 147.7. The N terminus contains an approximately 600-amino acid domain containing up to 12 WD repeats that likely adopts a beta-propeller-like structure. The C-terminal 632 amino acids contains an N-glycosylation site, 6 N-myristoylation sites, and numerous phosphorylation sites. Alternatively spliced transcripts include one lacking exon 2, encoding a deduced 1,298-amino acid protein that initiates at an internal methionine, and another in which in-frame skipping of exon 13 generates a deduced 1,270-amino acid protein. Northern blot analysis detected a 7-kb transcript in retina. RT-PCR detected highest WDR17 expression in retina and testis, with lower levels in adult and fetal brain, spinal cord, bone marrow, thymus, colon, skeletal muscle, and uterus.
