Zinc Finger And BTB Domain Containing Protein 40 (ZBTB40)

By sequencing clones obtained from a size-fractionated brain cDNA library, Seki et al. (1997) identified ZBTB40 as cDNA KIAA0478. The predicted protein contains 418 amino acids.Styrkarsdottir et al. (2008) noted that the ZBTB40 gene is expressed in bone.The ZBTB40 gene is located on chromosome 1p36 (Styrkarsdottir et al., 2008).

Styrkarsdottir et al. (2008) found association of 2 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) at chromosome 1p36, rs7524102 and 6696971, with both hip bone mineral density and spine bone mineral density. These SNPs are located in a linkage disequilibrium block 80 kb upstream from the ZBTB40 gene.
