Zinc Finger, BED-Type Containing Protein 4 (ZBED4)

Zinc Finger, BED-Type Containing Protein 4 (ZBED4)
By sequencing clones obtained from a size-fractionated adult brain cDNA library, Ishikawa et al. (1998) cloned ZBED4, which they designated KIAA0637. The deduced 1,171-amino acid protein had an apparent molecular mass of over 100 kD by SDS-PAGE. RT-PCR detected high ZBED4 expression in all tissues examined.
Yamashita et al. (2007) found that ZBED4 contains 4 BED zinc finger domains in its N-terminal half and an hACT dimerization domain in its C-terminal half. Immunofluorescence analysis revealed that ZBED4 localized to nuclei of HeLa cells during interphase and was absent from chromosomes during mitosis.By mutation analysis, Yamashita et al. (2007) showed that the C-terminal hATC domain of ZBED4 mediated dimerization and was required for efficient nuclear accumulation of ZBED4.
