Zinc Finger Protein 106 Homolog (ZFP106)
ZFP106 a protein with six WD40 domains and a zinc-finger domain. May be involved in growth related metabolism. A region of ZFP106 is identical to a 600-amino acid sequence implicated in the insulin receptor signaling pathway. Regulated by NRF-1 and myogenin, and expressed in brown fat, developing brain, and striated muscle.
The WD40 repeats containing zinc finger protein 106 (ZFP106)is a conserved mammalian protein of unknown function. However, its cDNA shares an extended region of identity with Sh3bp3 cDNA encoding a protein implicated in the insulin signaling pathway. In situ hybridization of mouse embryos confirmed predominant expression of Zfp106 in tissues with high developmental expression of either NRF-1 or myogenin.
