Zinc Finger Protein 85 (ZNF85)

Zinc Finger Protein 85 (ZNF85)
Members of the Kruppel zinc finger protein subfamily, which function as transcriptional regulators, are characterized by repeated zinc finger motifs that are connected by conserved H/C link regions. The predicted ZNF85 protein has a small N-terminal nonfinger region followed by a C-terminal domain containing 15 tandemly repeated zinc finger motifs.
The deduced 595-amino acid protein, which contains at least 1 nuclear localization signal in its ZNF91-related spacer region, localizes to the nucleus. ZNF85 binds to DNA in a zinc-dependent manner.ZNF85 KRAB domain exhibits transcriptional repression activity and specifically interacts with several nuclear factors. RNase protection assays demonstrated that ZNF85 is expressed preferentially in testicular tissues.
