tRNA-yW Synthesizing Protein 2 (TYW2)
tRNA wybutosine-synthesizing protein 2 homolog is a protein encoded by the TRMT12 gene.Wybutosine (yW) is a hypermodified guanosine at the 3-prime position adjacent to the anticodon of phenylalanine tRNA that stabilizes codon-anticodon interactions during decoding on the ribosome. TRMT12 is the human homolog of a yeast gene essential for yW synthesis.
By searching databases for homologs of yeast Trm12, Kalhor et al. (2005) identified human TRMT12.The International Radiation Hybrid Mapping Consortium mapped the TRMT12 gene to chromosome 8
