Emphysema

Emphysema in the broadest sense of the word is pneumatosis, that is, any abnormal accumulation of air or other gas within animal tissues. In the most common sense of the word it is, more specifically, pulmonary emphysema, which is a type of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. emphysema is also a very serious and life-threatening chronic lung disease which negatively effects breathing. With severe emphysema, air is trapped in the lungs, reducing blood oxygenation. Smoking accounts for 85% of people who pass-away attributable to emphysema. The best advice we can give is stop-smoking NOW and also avoid second-hand smoke.
