5'-Nucleotidase, Cytosolic IB (NT5C1B)
Cytosolic 5-prime nucleotidases, such as NT5C1B, catalyze production of adenosine, which regulates diverse physiologic processes. Nt5c1b encodes a 573-amino acid protein that shares 66% identity with pigeon and human NT5C1A. Mouse Nt5c1b contains 4 putative kinase-3a sequences and 3 nucleoside monophosphate-binding type-2 sequences.
The partial human protein shares 87% identity with mouse Nt5c1b and 70% identity with human NT5C1A. RT-PCR analysis of human tissues revealed ubiquitous expression of NT5C1B, with highest level in testis and lowest levels in brain and skeletal muscle. Mouse Nt5c1b also showed highest expression in testis.Nt5c1b was activated by ADP and catalyzed adenosine formation during ATP breakdown.
