ADP Ribosyltransferase 4 (ART4)

Ecto-ADP-ribosyltransferase 4 is a protein that contains a mono-ADP-ribosylation (ART) motif. It is a member of the ADP-ribosyltransferase gene family but enzymatic activity has not been demonstrated experimentally. Antigens of the Dombrock blood group system are located on the gene product, which is glycosylphosphatidylinosotol-anchored to the erythrocyte membrane. The ART4 gene encodes a predicted 314-amino acid polypeptide containing an arginine-glycine-aspartic acid (RGD) motif, commonly involved in cell-to-cell interactions involving integrin binding and the GPI anchor motif. Gubin et al. stated that although the identity of DO to ART4 had been established, enzymatic activity has not been demonstrated in any cell type, including erythroid cells.
