Calcyphosine 2 (CAPS2)

calcyphosphine 2

Calcyphosine 2 (CAPS2)
Calcyphosine-2 is a calcium-binding protein with 2 EF-hand motifs.Wang et al. (2002) cloned a full-length calcyphosine-2 cDNA from a human fetal brain cDNA library. The deduced 382-amino acid CAPS2 protein contains 2 EF-hand Ca(2+)-binding motifs and shares approximately 30% sequence identity with human calcyphosine (CAPS), canine calcyphosine, and rabbit R2D5 antigen. Northern blot analysis detected expression of CAPS2 in all tissues tested except prostate, spleen, and small intestine. Highest expression was found in colon, testis, lung, placenta, and brain.Abundantly expressed in many tissues. Expressed in brain, colon, heart, kidney, liver, lung, liver, pancreas, placenta, skeletal muscle, testis and thymus. Highest expression in colon, testis, lung, placenta and brain.
