Capping Protein Muscle Z Line Beta (CAPZb)
CAPZB is a member of the F-actin capping protein family. This gene encodes the beta subunit of the barbed-end actin binding protein. The protein regulates growth of the actin filament by capping the barbed end of growing actin filaments.
In the course of mapping 39 ESTs on 6p24-p23, they concluded that CAPZB is located in that region flanked by EDN1 on the centromeric side and TFAP2 on the telomeric side. However, Cooper (1999) stated that a 'simple clerical error' occurred at the outset of this project; the EST in question does not share sequence similarity with the CAPZB gene and, therefore, the mapping of the CAPZB gene to 6p24-p23 is incorrect.
