Centrosomal Protein 55kDa (CEP55)
CEP55 expression in testis and thymus, lower expression in small intestine, colon, and ovary, and little to no expression in other tissues examined. Fluorescence-tagged CEP55 localized to centrioles and, primarily, to the pericentriolar material. Further analysis indicated that CEP55 localized to the mother centriole in interphase cells and was recruited to the midbody during cytokinesis. Phosphatase treatment indicated that the doublet was phosphorylated. After long exposure time, CEP55 was expressed in all tissues examined. Immunohistochemical analysis detected endogenous Cep55 in Chinese hamster ovary cells at the centrosome as 1 or 2 dots during mitosis. Cep55 appeared at the cleavage furrow in late anaphase and concentrated at the center of the midbody during cytokinesis.
