Chemokine Like Factor Superfamily 8 (CKLFSF8)

Members of the chemokine-like factor superfamily, including CKLFSF8, share similarity with both the chemokine and the transmembrane 4 superfamilies of signaling molecules.

By screening databases for sequences that share homology with chemokine-like factor (CKLF), followed by RT-PCR of a tonsil cDNA library, Han et al. (2003) cloned CKLFSF8. The deduced 173-amino acid protein has 4 transmembrane segments and shares about 39% sequence identity with TM4SF11. Northern blot analysis detected a 1.18-kb transcript expressed at high levels in liver and pancreas. Han et al. (2003) also cloned mouse Cklfsf8, which shares more than 95% sequence similarity with CKLFSF8.
