Coiled Coil Domain Containing Protein 110 (CCDC110)
The deduced KM-HN-1 protein contains 833 amino acids and has 3 coiled-coil domains, a leucine zipper motif, and a putative endoplasmic reticulum membrane domain. Northern blot analysis revealed a single 2.9-kb transcript expressed only in testis among normal tissues but also expressed in tumors of different origins. The aberrant expression of KM-HN-1 in a broad spectrum of human neoplasms was confirmed by immunohistochemistry of paraffin-embedded tissues.
The CTLs killed only cancer cells expressing KM-HN-1, leading the authors to suggest that KM-HN-1 might be a good candidate for the development of a cancer vaccine.IgG antibodies to KM-HN-1 were present in many patients with different types of cancer but not in healthy controls.
