Coiled Coil Domain Containing Protein 115 (CCDC115)

Ccp1; Coiled Coil Protein 1

Coiled Coil Domain Containing Protein 115 (CCDC115)
The deduced 180-amino acid protein contains 2 coiled-coil domains, a putative leucine zipper within coiled-coil domain-1, putative phosphorylation sites, and an N-myristoylation site. The rat and human CCP1 proteins contain 180 amino acids and share 83.3% and 78.9% amino acid identity with mouse Ccp1. Northern blot analysis detected a CCP1 transcript of about 2.0 in a human neuroblastoma cell line and in all human brain regions examined. A transcript of about 0.24 kb was also detected in the neuroblastoma cell line. Dynamic Ccp1 expression that began at embryonic day 13.5 in striatum and piriform cortex and migrated by embryonic day 16.5 to deeper regions of the cortical plate and to the ventricular zone. Epitope-tagged Ccp1 localized to the surface of endosome/lysosome-like structures in transfected neuronal cells and cell lines.
