Centaurin Alpha 2 (CENTa2)

ADAP2; Cent-b; Arf-GAP With Dual PH Domain-Containing Protein 2

Centaurin Alpha 2 (CENTa2)
CENTA2 contains an N-terminal ARF-GAP -like zinc finger motif, followed by 2 pleckstrin homology (PH) domains. Northern blot analysis detected highest expression in placenta, spleen, kidney, skeletal muscle, and adrenal gland, with weaker expression in thyroid, liver, heart, lung, small intestine, and peripheral blood leukocytes. CENTA2 was localized exclusively at the plasma membrane of transfected embryonic kidney cells.CENTA2 expressed in insect cells bound inositol 1,3,4,5-tetrakisphosphate and phosphatidylinositol 3,4,5-trisphosphate with similar affinities. Modeling studies suggested that there is only 1 class of binding sites, and stoichiometric analysis indicated that there are 2 binding sites per CENTA2 molecule. Inhibition of PI3K caused membrane-bound CENTA2 to dissociate into the cytosol.
