Deoxyribonuclease II (DNASEII)

Deoxyribonuclease II, or Acid DNase, hydrolyzes deoxyribonucleotide linkages in native and denatured DNA yielding products with 3'-phosphates. As the name implies, it is more effective at acid pHs.

There are several known DNases II, including:DNase II alpha (usually just called DNase II) ;DNase II beta (also called DLAD, or DNase II-Like Acid DNase)The predicted 360-amino acid protein has 3 parts: a 16-amino acid signal peptide, a 91-amino acid propeptide, and a 253-amino acid mature protein region. like other lysosomal enzymes, DNase II is processed by release of a signal peptide followed by proteolytic processing that generates a 2-chain enzyme. Purified DNase II migrates as 2 bands (32 and 12 kD) on SDS-PAGE.
