Ferredoxin Reductase (FDXR)
Adrenodoxin oxidoreductase, mitochondrial is a mitochondrial flavoprotein that initiates electron transport for cytochromes P450 receiving electrons from NADPH. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene have been described although the full-length nature of only two that encode different isoforms have been determined.
The first exon encodes the first 26 of the 32 amino acids of the signal peptide, and the second exon encodes the remainder of the signal peptide and the apparent FAD binding site. The remaining 10 exons are clustered in a region of only 4.3 kb, separated from the first 2 exons by a large intron of about 5.6 kb. Southern blot analysis indicated that the human genome contains only 1 ADXR gene.
