Fyn Related Kinase (FRK)

FRK; GTK; PTK5; RAK; tyrosine protein kinase 5; Nuclear tyrosine protein kinase RAK

Fyn Related Kinase (FRK)
Fyn-related kinase is an enzyme belongs to the TYR family of protein kinases. This tyrosine kinase is a nuclear protein and may function during G1 and S phase of the cell cycle and suppress growth.Sequence analysis predicted that the 505-amino acid FRK protein is 49% and 47% identical to FYN and CSK, respectively. FRK contains a putative ATP-binding motif and tyrosine kinase signature motifs, as well as SH2 and SH3 domains; however, it lacks a myristylation signal found in FYN. Northern blot analysis revealed expression of a 3.0-kb transcript in a hepatoma cell line, but expression in other cell lines or normal tissues was not detected. PCR amplification detected expression in some cell lines. Restricted to cells lines derived from tissues of lymphoid, brain, breast, colon and bladder origin.
