Gastrokine 1 (GKN1)

CA11; AMP18; BRICD1; FOV; Foveolin; 18 kDa antrum mucosa protein

Gastrokine 1 (GKN1)
Gastrokine-1 is found to be down-regulated in human gastric cancer tissue as compared to normal gastric mucosa.Using differential display of normal and cancerous gastric tissue, followed by 5-prime RACE, Yoshikawa et al. (2000) identified cDNAs encoding CA11 and CAPN9.
The deduced 199-amino acid CA11 protein contains an asn-rich region. Northern blot analysis revealed expression of an approximately 1.1-kb CA11 transcript predominantly in stomach; no expression was detected in cancer tissue or gastric cancer cell lines. Yoshikawa et al. (2000) identified a marker in the CA11 gene that indicates a localization on chromosome 2.
