Glycosyltransferase Like Domain Containing Protein 1 (GTDC1)
Zhao et al. (2004) cloned GTDC1 from a fetal brain cDNA library as part of a high throughput DNA sequencing analysis. The deduced 458-amino acid GTDC1 protein has a calculated molecular mass of 52.6 kD and shares 75% and 37% identity with the putative murine and Drosophila homologs, respectively. GTDC1 contains an N-terminal transmembrane region, which predicts a type II transmembrane protein, and a C-terminal glycosyltransferase-like domain. RT-PCR analysis detected ubiquitous expression of GTDC1 mRNA, at relatively high levels in lung, spleen, testis, and peripheral blood leukocytes.
Zhao et al. (2004) determined that the GTDC1 gene contains 12 exons and spans approximately 290 kb of genomic sequence.
