Indoleamine-2,3-Dioxygenase 2 (IDO2)

INDOL1; Indoleamine-Pyrrole 2,3 Dioxygenase-Like 1; Indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase-like protein 1; Indoleamine-pyrrole 2,3-dioxygenase-like protein 1

Indoleamine-2,3-Dioxygenase 2 (IDO2)
Along with the enzymes encoded by the INDO and TDO2 genes, the enzyme encoded by the INDOL1 gene metabolizes tryptophan in the kynurenine pathway. The deduced 407-amino acid protein shares 73% identity with mouse Indol1. Western blot analysis with a specific antibody detected protein expression in mouse kidney, epididymis, and liver. Immunohistochemical analysis of mouse tissues localized Indol1 in renal tubules, tails of spermatazoa in epididymis and testis, but not in epididymal cells. The full-length deduced 420-amino acid human protein shares 72% identity with its 405-amino acid mouse homolog. RT-PCR analysis of human tissues detected expression in liver, small intestine, spleen, placenta, thymus, lung, brain, kidney, and colon.
