Ladinin 1 (LAD1)

LadA; Linear IgA disease antigen

Ladinin 1 (LAD1)
Ladinin-1 may be an anchoring filament that is a component of basement membranes. It may contribute to the stability of the association of the epithelial layers with the underlying mesenchyme.Ladinin is an anchoring filament protein of basement membrane at the dermal-epidermal junction. Human ladinin is an autoantigen associated with linear IgA disease. Motoki et al. (1997) cloned mouse ladinin-1, which encodes a 528-amino acid polypeptide that contains a secretory signal sequence, several putative glycosylation sites, and 6 SEK motifs which may participate in macromolecular interactions. Northern blotting revealed that the approximately 2.5-kb mouse Lad1 mRNA is expressed in keratinocytes but not in fibroblasts. It is also expressed in a variety of mouse tissues.
