Lysophosphatidylglycerol Acyltransferase 1 (LPGAT1)

FAM34A1; NET8; Family With Sequence Similarity 34,Member A

Lysophosphatidylglycerol Acyltransferase 1 (LPGAT1)
The deduced 370-amino acid protein has a predicted molecular mass of 43 kD and contains an N-terminal 23-amino acid signal anchor domain and a potential N-glycosylation site.
LPGAT1 shares motifs matching 4 conserved domains among GPAT family members. Northern blot analysis detected 7.5-kb and 9.5-kb transcripts in most human tissues examined with highest expression in liver and placenta, intermediate expression in peripheral blood, lung, kidney, brain, small intestine, spleen, and low expression in colon. Cellular fractionation of LPGAT1 expressed in COS-7 cells showed that LPGAT1 localized to the microsomal fraction. Immunocytochemistry with intact cells localized LPGAT1 protein in a perinuclear and punctate pattern.
