Myosin IB (MYO1B)

Myr1; MMIa; Myosin I alpha

Myosin IB (MYO1B)
Myo1b is a widely expressed myosin-I isoform that concentrates on endosomal and ruffling membranes and is thought to play roles in membrane trafficking and dynamics. It is one of the best characterized myosin-I isoforms and appears to have unique biochemical properties tuned for tension sensing or tension maintenance.
By RT-PCR analysis of an intestinal epithelial cell line and a liver cDNA library, Bement et al. (1994) obtained multiple cDNAs encoding unconventional myosins, among them a liver cDNA encoding MYO1B. RNase protection analysis detected expression of MYO1B in the intestinal epithelial cell line. The International Radiation Hybrid Mapping Consortium mapped the MYO1B gene to chromosome 2 .
